TT Sidecar Race 2 & Senior TT

TT 2019 will have a lot to live up to given the outstanding performances right through the field at ┬áthis year’s event. Lap records tumbled and many riders recorded their best ever laps as the fantastic weather encouraged the amazing racing around the the TT course.

At the sharp end we have Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman trading lap speeds and times that have rewritten the record books. We also have the emergence of some future stars particularly in Sam West and Davey Todd who contested the Privateers Championship right up to the end. Todd taking victory in such style that it was hard to believe that he was a newcomer!

We also saw the return of Ian Hutchinson. His bravery in competing was awe inspiring and I for one hope that he can continue to return to full fitness over the next twelve months.

The Birchalls continued their dominance in the Sidecars and they too blasted the existing lap and race records.

TT Supersport 2, TT Zero and Lightweight TT

Three races and three different winners. Dean Harrison won TT Supersport 2 followed home by Peter Hickman and James Hillier.

Michael Rutter won the TT Zero race but arguably the performance of the race was by Daley Mathison aboard the Nottingham University machine. He split the two Mugen machines as Lee Johnston brought home his ailing bike in third.

Michael Dunlop moved on to 18 TT wins with a convincing win in the Lightweight TT. Riding a Paton Dunlop is now the third most successful rider in TT history. Only John McGuinness (23 wins) and Uncle Joey (26 wins) have better records than Michael. Derek McGee took his first TT podium finishing 2nd ahead of Michael Rutter.

TT Supersport 1 & TT Superstock

Michael Dunlop registered his second win of the week in the Supersport TT and later in the day Peter Hickman won his first TT with a close win from Dunlop and Harrison in the Superstock TT.
